CSK vs MI IPL 2025 LIVE Score: Noor Ahmad Named Player of the Match

Noor Ahmad: “It’s a special feeling to play in the IPL, and I’m thrilled to contribute to the team’s success. My focus was on hitting the right areas, and getting Surya’s wicket was particularly memorable. MSD’s stumping was simply unbelievable! Having Mahi bhai behind the stumps is a huge support and gives me great confidence.”

CSK vs MI IPL 2025: Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad Shares His Thoughts

Ruturaj Gaikwad: “It’s always great to be on the winning side. We could have been a bit more clinical, but that’s cricket—every game presents different challenges. Moving to No. 3 was a strategic decision to bring more balance to the team, and I’m happy to adapt for the squad’s needs.

Our spinners were outstanding, and right after the auction, we were eager to see them operate together at Chepauk. Khaleel brings experience, Noor is a true X-factor, and having Ash in the mix strengthens our attack even more.

And as for Dhoni—he’s looking fitter than ever! He still moves like he’s in his prime and having him behind the stumps is a massive boost for us.”

Chennai Super Kings kicked off their IPL 2025 campaign with a thrilling four-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday, March 23. In the third match of the tournament, CSK successfully chased down Mumbai’s target of 156 runs, reaching 157/6 in 19.1 overs.

New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra, preferred in the XI over Devon Conway, played a crucial role with a composed 65 off 45 deliveries. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad provided fireworks at the top, smashing 53 runs in just 26 balls, reaching his half-century in a mere 22 deliveries with six fours and three maximums.

For Mumbai, young Kerala spinner Vignesh Puthur made an impressive IPL debut, picking up 3/32 in his four-over spell. Despite his efforts, CSK’s strong batting display ensured a winning start to their campaign.

In the first innings, Mumbai Indians struggled to capitalize on the batting-friendly conditions and could only put up 155/9 on the scoreboard. Their innings got off to a disastrous start as Khaleel Ahmed struck early, dismissing Rohit Sharma for a four-ball duck on just the fourth delivery of the match. The former MI skipper mistimed his shot, gifting an easy catch to Shivam Dube inside the 30-yard circle, dealing Mumbai an early blow.

England all-rounder Will Jacks stepped in at No. 3 for Mumbai Indians and looked promising early on, finding the boundary twice on the final deliveries of the first and second overs. However, his innings was cut short when Ravichandran Ashwin, making his comeback for CSK, dismissed him on the fourth ball of his spell.

Earlier, in the third over, Ryan Rickelton’s stay at the crease was brief as Khaleel Ahmed sent his stumps flying with a sharp delivery. The South African wicketkeeper-batter managed a quickfire 13 off seven balls, including three boundaries, before his departure.

Following the early setbacks, Tilak Varma (31) and captain Suryakumar Yadav (29) attempted to steady the innings. However, just as the pair looked set to accelerate, MS Dhoni’s lightning-fast stumping brought Surya’s knock to an abrupt end. Before heading back to the pavilion, Suryakumar reached a milestone of 3000 IPL runs for Mumbai Indians, becoming only the third player after Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard to achieve the feat for the franchise.

Match Summary:

Mumbai Indians: 155/9 in 20 overs (Tilak Varma 31, Suryakumar Yadav 29, Deepak Chahar 28; Noor Ahmad 4/18, Khaleel Ahmed 3/29)

Chennai Super Kings: 158/6 in 19.1 overs (Rachin Ravindra 65*, Ruturaj Gaikwad 53, Ravindra Jadeja 17; Vignesh Puthur 3/32, Deepak Chahar 1/18)
