GT vs PBKS, IPL 2025 Highlights: Punjab Kings secured a thrilling victory over Gujarat Titans in a high-scoring contest at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday (March 25). Arshdeep Singh held his nerve in the final over, successfully defending 27 runs and conceding only 15, sealing an 11-run win for PBKS.

Despite impressive half-centuries from Jos Buttler and Sai Sudharsan, Gujarat fell short in their chase. Shreyas Iyer’s commanding 97 proved to be the defining knock, marking a perfect start to his leadership at his new franchise.

Former England white-ball skipper Jos Buttler (54) fought hard to keep Gujarat Titans in contention, forging a crucial 54-run stand for the third wicket with West Indies all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford (46). However, Buttler’s dismissal on the final ball of the 18th over turned the tide in Punjab Kings’ favor.

B Sai Sudharsan led GT’s scoring with a brilliant 74, while captain Shubman Gill provided an explosive start, smashing 33 off just 14 deliveries.

After being put to bat by Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill, Punjab Kings posted a massive 243/5 in 20 overs, thanks to a career-best knock from captain Shreyas Iyer. The PBKS skipper dazzled with a 42-ball 97, smashing five fours and nine sixes.

Iyer built a solid 51-run stand for the second wicket with IPL debutant Priyansh Arya, who impressed with a quickfire 47 off 23 balls. The left-hander from Delhi, who was picked up by PBKS for ₹3.80 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction, looked in fine touch before Rashid Khan dismissed him in his first over. Arya’s innings featured seven boundaries and two sixes.

Iyer further contributed with a 26-run partnership alongside Azmatullah Omarzai (16 off 15), but R Sai Kishore turned the game momentarily, removing both Omarzai and Glenn Maxwell (golden duck) in successive deliveries.

Subhman Gill Reaction

After Punjab Kings faced a sudden batting collapse, captain Shreyas Iyer steadied the innings alongside Marcus Stoinis (20), stitching together a crucial 57-run stand for the fifth wicket. However, Stoinis’ attempt to go big against R Sai Kishore saw him caught, handing the GT spinner another vital breakthrough.

Iyer, who became only the fifth player to captain three different IPL teams, took charge in the death overs, hammering Prasidh Krishna for 24 runs in the 17th over. PBKS batters kept the momentum going, with Iyer and Shashank Singh accumulating 20, 10, and 23 runs in the last three overs, respectively, pushing the total to a formidable 243.

Shashank played a blistering knock, remaining unbeaten on 44 off just 16 deliveries. For Gujarat, Sai Kishore was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/30 in four overs, while Kagiso Rabada and Rashid Khan chipped in with a wicket each.
